Imagine this – you are faced with a problem and trying to work it out in your head, while the solution is right in front of you, but you can’t see it. Has this ever happened to you? As humans, we love to think that our mind knows best. The ego is always active and can sometime get us into trouble. Why is it that we think that we can outsmart our intuition – Mother Nature’s suggestion – just because we “know some stuff”?  I can’t tell you how many times I have tried to reason my way out of an issue when the answer is staring me down. At the end of it all, you say, “well, hindsight is only 20/20” and brush it off. But when did we start thinking we know everything?

The onslaught of media, technology, and noise our brains have to interpret everyday is exhausting. Because of the constant flow of information we have forgotten how to turn it off and listen. No worries, it’s not permanent, but it will take practice.

So, how to quiet your logical brain to tune into your intuition? Start by practicing sitting quietly and listening to your breath a few minutes each day. It will start out insanely difficult and 3 minutes will feel like a lifetime, but soon your body and mind will crave the quiet. Just like in yoga where you work your body and always end with relaxation – your brain needs the same thing. And who knows, maybe next time, you will find your solution even faster…
