Although I am a huge eggs, bacon, the works breakfast fan, if I had that every morning, I’d probably be in cardiac rehab already. Morning is the best workout time for me, so I love to refuel post-workout with a delicious and nutritious smoothie. This is a great way to squeeze in some extra vegetables and protein for the day, as well as break the fast with something that’s great for your body and metabolism. Granted, you can buy a protein shake from the market, but I like to know what’s going in to my food, as well as control how much sugar is in it. I always use my Magic Rocket (who needs a bullet??) so some of the ingredient amounts depend on how much I can stuff in the cup on any given day. So here you have it!

½ Frozen Banana
¼ c frozen berries or other fruit
2 Tbs. non-fat Plain Greek Yogurt (I love Fage but you can leave this out if you want the smooth to be vegan)
Large Handful of Kale (Love the Kale from TJ’s; it is already washed and de-stemmed so you than throw it right in)
1 c soy milk (or any other non-dairy milk)
2 Tbs. Vegan Protein powder (Superfood blend is my favorite; it has a chocolate flavor without the added sugar that almost every protein powder has)
2 Tbs. Chia (you can use any brand Chia, but I like Mila the best. It’s a proprietary blend, and since chia takes on the properties of the soil that it’s grown in, it makes a difference!)

Blend until smooth. Enjoy!

You will find the more you make this smoothie, you will adjust certain ingredients to your liking. My mom and I both have this for breakfast, and ours look and taste different. Either way, you are getting a huge does of your daily vitamins, minerals, and protein, and don’t have to spend much money on it. Refuel your body with this tasty and healthy smoothie!
