Have you ever noticed that when you begin to focus your energy into something, it all starts to work out? Never in a million years did I ever think I would have a blog. I thought about starting a beer blog (still doing research on it each night, haha), but it never materialized into anything. Now here I am, writing a blog post almost 5 days a week about a topic I love. And just when I think I have nothing to say for the day, a thought will pop in my head. There are two lessons to be learned here: 1) the universe gives back the energy you put into it, and 2) always do something you love.

There is something to be said with starting your day off on the right foot. It seems as (most) everything goes your way, and you usually have a glorious day. You have the option to do that every day. When you approach each day like it is going to be the best day ever, they usually are pretty good. When you work your butt off on a project, doing so with a smile on your face makes the task less daunting. Yesterday, I worked all day. Left the house in the morning and didn’t come home until after 9pm. Instead of dreading the long day, I was so grateful for the opportunities to do the things I love with people I respect and admire. And you know what? It was a pretty fabulous day. Happy people aren’t born that way. People make a conscious decision to be happy each day. Try it, you may be surprised by what you find.

To help you put all of your positive energy into your life, it is important to do something you’re passionate about. Steve Jobs’ showed us that when you are passionate about work, your projects are filled with your positive energy. Even if he wasn’t a nice dude, he was driven to make the best product possible. And every time you pick up an Apple product, you sense that: the design and craftsmanship are always amazing and the functionality of the products are top notch. And though I don’t try to model Steve Jobs’ interpersonal skills, I do put my all into everything I do. Why waste my time producing a product, thought, or idea that is half-assed?

So today, I challenge you to take one task and put all of your energy into it. Maybe the walk to the water fountain is the best darn walk you’ve ever taken. Try it!
